Kerel Cooper is Chief Marketing Officer at LiveIntent, one of Business Insider’s hottest adtech companies two years in a row (2019, 2020). Kerel has emerged as a respected thought leader in the digital advertising industry, offering expert commentary in the media and at industry conferences like 3 Percent Movement, AfroTech World, Black is Tech, and SXSW. Named one of Crain’s New York Notable Black Leaders and Executives 2021 [Confidential until 2/15/21], Kerel wields his influence as one of the few Black executives in the martech space actively calling for more diversity and inclusion in the industry.
Kerel regularly contributes to major tech publications such as Business Insider, Digiday, and Forbes to discuss the state of diversity within the industry and advocate for the importance of genuine diversity and inclusion. Kerel helps bring diversity and inclusion to the forefront at LiveIntent as one of the founding members of LiveIntent’s BID (belonging, inclusion and diversity) with Intent initiative. Since its inception, this group has sparked the creation of multiple Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) that empower individuals to engage in healthy dialogue in a space that’s safe and welcoming. Since January 2020, 32% of hires are underrepresented minorities and 50% of hires identify as female.
Kerel is also the co-founder and co-host of Minority Report, a podcast that highlights people of color, women & LGBTQ+ communities within business, media, and technology. The podcast, which has featured guests from Google, Viacom, Comcast Advertising, and Xandr amplifies the voices of those least represented who work in senior-level positions in the industry while simultaneously providing a resource to an equally diverse demographic who are beginning their career.
Additionally, Kerel has donated his expertise as a marketing advisor for two tech companies dedicated to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace: VR PERSPECTIVES and Dandi.
