From Styling to Storytelling

Wavemaker UK

Client: Remington One

This is the story of how we pumped up the volume for Remington, taking them to number one in the hairstyling category through breaking down gender stereotypes. It’s also the story of how we used unheard voices to challenge the conventional portrayal of beauty.

The hairstyling world promotes cookie-cutter ideals like the Goddess or the Gladiator, reducing hair to something to tame, control, or style. But hair is more powerful than that. It’s central to identity, carries our DNA, and serves as a visual signal of personal style, culture, and heritage.

To launch the first truly gender-neutral styling range, we broke tradition. Instead of talking about the product, we created a campaign of eight stories from underrepresented voices. We celebrated hair for its significance in identity and individuality. This wasn’t just a campaign—it was a statement. We redefined hairstyling and turned a product launch into a celebration of self-expression and diversity
